SFG is challenging itself to research crop input products and production that enhance net return for growers and is economically sound and environmentally friendly. SFG is working to strengthen relationships with agribusiness, retailers, commodity organizations, farm media, and growers to maximize research and educational opportunities.
The primary research will be conducted on the SFG “Fry Farm” with other farms having replicated plots to the Fry Farm. The research farm is located one-half mile north of the Knoxville office on the west side of Highway 5.
SFG has partnered with the following invited companies and suppliers to accomplish the goals of this project: Dekalb/Asgrow seed, BASF, Monsanto, UAP, Garst, Barker Implement, and Vetter Equipment.
At the end of each year, we will have the research and in-field experience that is necessary to make practical recommendations for producers to implement that will help mitigate the negative aspects of corn and soybean production. Specifically, we plan to have a greater understanding of the hybrid response to various cropping situations. Growers and partners will profit from this and receive statistical results through on-site presentations during the growing season, meetings, and newsletters.
