August 12, 2019: Creep For Dwindling Pastures

August 12, 2019

Summer rains are still sporadic which continues to give us pressure on pastures. The cows are dropping off on milk production, which leaves their calves looking for something to eat. Creep feed for calves is one option to help with dwindling pastures.
Commercial creeps like those made by Hubbard or Kent typically have a conversion rate of 4-6 pounds of feed to 1 pound of gain. Creep mixes featuring corn with oats or individual commodity pellets typically will take 8-10 pounds of feed to get 1 pound of gain.
Contact any of the 4 SFG locations for more information on booking or having some creep feed delivered to your pasture.
