Almost Time To Bring In a New Year

Thanksgiving is behind us, and for most of us the combines are put away for the season. With Christmas and New Year’s fast approaching, it’s time to look ahead to the 2026 crop season, evaluating the fall work we’ve completed and planning what’s left for next spring.
We’ve had a strong run this fall with anhydrous, dry fertilizer, and lime applications. The weather cooperated, allowing these jobs to get done efficiently and on time. I’ve been working to catch up on fall applications and soil sampling, as well as getting spring work entered into our agronomy plans.
As the colder days set in, I encourage everyone to take some time to sit down with us and develop a detailed plan for spring. Good planning now helps planting go smoothly and sets the stage for top yields. This is also an excellent opportunity to review the seed varieties that performed well last year and to evaluate any needed adjustments to your chemical programs.
If you’d like to meet and get your 2026 spring agronomy plans in order, give your local SFG agronomist a call. We’re here to help you start the new season strong.
