A Wet Surprise: Fungicide Season Is Here

Jul 28, 2025

The summer of 2025 has turned out to be the exact opposite of what many farmers and climatologists expected. Instead of the predicted dry conditions, we've seen above-average rainfall and wide temperature swings, creating ideal conditions for disease to take hold in our crops.

These prolonged wet conditions, with rain-soaked days and heavy dew at night, have led to extended wet hours in the field. This creates prime breeding ground for fungi and bacteria, which means increased disease pressure, even in the healthiest-looking soybean fields.

Now is the time to start applying fungicide, or it will be by the time you read this. Even in years with a low probability of disease, we've seen break-even returns on fungicide and insecticide applications. In a season like this, the return on investment could be substantial.
