Getting your crop to the finish line
Post-spraying on corn is nearly complete, and soybean applications are well underway across the area. Within the next 7 to 10 days, most of the chemical applications will be finished, and our attention will turn to the next priority: Getting this crop to the finish line.
For the most part, the corn looks excellent. With warm temperatures in the forecast, fields are entering the rapid growth stage, and it won’t be long before tassels and silks start to appear. With such a strong start, it's important to protect the crop and its yield potential through the rest of the season.
A fungicide application at tassel is one of the best tools we have to protect that yield. Veltyma® fungicide provides strong residual control and can defend against diseases before they even show up. Gray leaf spot, for example, can begin causing damage up to 19 days before symptoms are visible. Veltyma also performs well against tar spot, which has become a more frequent issue in recent years.
Fungicide applications also pay off in soybeans. At the R3 growth stage, growers can typically expect a 4 to 5 bushel yield increase. Adding an insecticide has shown to deliver an additional 1 to 2 bushels, making it a smart investment for healthy, high-performing beans.
This crop is in great shape. Let’s keep it that way. Talk with your SFG agronomist to discuss fungicide options and protect the yield potential you’ve worked hard to build.
