Schedule Your Fall Lime Today
Nov 03, 2025

Harvest is starting to get wrapped up in my area. Given the early start we had this year and a favorable extended forecast, this should allow us to get a little more fall fieldwork done than normal. It has been widely reported that some fertilizers like phosphate are at near record high prices and that has caused some heartburn in planning for 2026. That being said, one thing as producers we can look at is our soil pH. Getting our pH in check makes all of our applied nutrients more available to the crop and less likely to be tied up in the soil. I had a professor in college that would say lime is the cheapest fertilizer for the farmer because of its many benefits. Here at SFG we offer conventional and GPS lime spreading, as well as soil testing for both methods. If you would like to get some fields on the list to be sampled or if you already have testing done and would like to get lime applied yet this fall, give your local SFG agronomist a call.
