Nitrogen Stabilizers

Oct 13, 2025

So far we’ve had a good run into harvest. Most growers have switched over to soybeans and are finding good yields. If the weather holds, we should have harvest wrapped up in a few weeks and be starting on the 2026 crop.

By mid-November many will begin applying anhydrous for next year’s corn crop. With higher anhydrous prices this fall, a lot of growers are asking what the most economical way is to use this fertilizer. Nitrogen inputs are one of the biggest investments you’ll make in a crop, so it makes sense to protect that investment.

One good way to do that is by using an NH3 stabilizer. Adding a stabilizer helps keep your nitrogen in place and available for the corn to use next spring instead of losing it over winter. It’s a simple and cost-effective way to make sure your fertilizer dollars are working for you.

When booking your fall NH3 application, be sure to ask your SFG agronomist about adding a stabilizer to your plan.
