Clint was born in Southern Idaho and spent 40 years of in Southwest Montana, working alongside his dad, Chris, with commercial beef cows. In Idaho he spent much time on combines and in the field at the family-owned registered Herford ranch. The family moved the cow and operation to Southwest Montana in 1979. After High school Clint went on a mission for two years, after which he came home and went to school in communications. He worked as a concert engineer for a spell, but the love for agriculture and especially cattle brought him back to working at a feedlot. There he conditioned and bred 8000 replacement heifers a year. It was there he learned more about AI and embryo transplanting. Throughout the years he's worked at several different ranches in multiple climate conditions, all the while incorporating genetics into making herds more efficient. He returned to work with his dad at Whiterock Ranch with the knowledge gained. He and his dad worked together until his dad passed away. Together they managed the ranch for a year and weaned 762 lb. steer calves. In the winter of 2020, Clint moved his wife of 20 years and their 5 kids to Iowa to work in assembly at a local ag equipment company. Wanting to get back into agriculture using the knowledge he's acquired over the years in animal health and nutrition, he started working for SFG in the beginning of 2022.
Scott grew up southeast of Mt Ayr on the Missouri border, where his family had a large cow-calf operation and raised and sold quarter horses. His extended family had farrow-to-finish hogs, which he got to spend a great deal of time with. Since college he has worked for various farm suppliers around south-central Iowa. In one of his most recent positions, he was manager and handled sales for a feed store in Indianola. Through these jobs he has gained knowledge in everything from agronomy to refined fuels and lubricants, but his passion has always been the livestock industry. He lives with his wife, Cindy, on their farm in the very Northwest corner of Lucas county, where he has cattle, five horses, and two dogs. In their spare time, when they are not baling or feeding hay, they like to team rope and barrel race.
Mike was born and raised on a livestock farm in Hubbard, Iowa, Northeast of Ames. He went to college in Muscatine, where he achieved a two-year degree in animal nutrition and agronomy. He has worked with livestock producers across Iowa for over 30 years and enjoys meeting with customers.
Mark Jacobs leads the front counter sales at the Albia location. He has worked with SFG since 2006 when the Albia location was purchased from Roemerman Feed & Grain. Prior to that he had worked with Roemerman Feed & Grain since 1999, doing front counter sales. He enjoys working with the customers, helping them to achieve their livestock and agronomy needs. He is a long time Albia resident. He graduated from Albia High School, then attended Iowa State University. He graduated from Iowa State with a B.S. in Animal Science. He currently has a cow calf operation that occupies his spare time. He especially enjoys watching the calves grow up.
Sara is from Ankeny, IA where she graduated high school in 2010. She was heavily involved in sports growing up, especially softball, which taught her a lot about initiative, dedication and teamwork. She graduated in 2016 from Coe College in Cedar Rapids, IA with majors in Public Relations, Communication Studies and Studio Art. She has worked in the fine arts, home healthcare, and social services fields since college, before starting with Smith Fertilizer and Grain in May of 2020. She has a wonderful son who keeps her busy when she is not working. She also enjoys cooking, art projects, and spending time with her family. Grain, agronomy and feed were totally new worlds to her before starting with SFG; however, she has quickly learned that she enjoys working in these areas and is eager to learn more every day. She currently manages our Milo office with the help of our great Location Manager, Scott Goetz, and Agronomist, Jason Jensen. Stop in and say hello anytime!
