Kyle, son of Max & Sharon Smith is the youngest of 5, who make up the 3rd generation of SFG. He grew up within the family business assisting in the day to day work. Some of his favorite memories growing up as a kid, was unloading trucks at the elevator and riding on the back of the terra-gator checking nozzles while his dad sprayed. (Although this might be frowned upon today)! After high school Kyle continued to run pre and post applicators, haul grain and assist in the shop before attending Vatterott College in Des Moines where he acquired his Associates Degree in Computer Technology. Outside of work, Kyle enjoys most anything that is competitive. Basketball and volleyball at the local Recreational Center and most recently weightlifting, are some of his favorite. He and his wife Kristin, who is the Albia Office Manager, have 4 children they try to keep actively involved in the family business.
Growing up on the family farm in Mahaska County I was involved in both row crop and swine farrow to finish operations. After college with Swine Production and Diesel Mechanics degrees I came back to our family farm and started a Swine Genetics A.I Service with my dad, this continued for 15 years. I then decided to get into trucking which I did for 2 years hauling everything from grain to combines. Most recently I spent 3 years in industrial maintenance and worked my way into management. There was a strong pull to be back in the ag sector so the opportunity to work at the SFG Melcher Location was my way back to where I started. At home east of Bussey I raise hay and sheep with my wife of 20 years, Shari, and our son, Jarett, who is 8. We enjoy anything outside and road trip family vacations.
