Dry Fertilizer & Micro Nutrients
Dec 09, 2024
The anhydrous season may be over for the fall as it appears the fields may have frozen up. Dry fertilizer will continue as there is no snow in the forecast.
There are a few things to consider when making your dry fertilizer decisions. We are hearing more and more about the importance of sulfur for your corn crop. An easy way to get the sulfur that your crop will need is to add it in with your dry fertilizer. We carry sulfur 90 that can easily be mixed in with your dry fertilizer. 15 to 20 pounds would be a good starting point, but with the higher yields that we have had over the last couple of years 25 pounds per acre would not be a bad idea either.
Tissue testing has also confirmed deficiencies of micros showing up in some corn last growing season. We have been applying MicroSync Pro to help with the micronutrient deficiencies that we have been seeing. MicroSync Pro has Boron, Calcium, Manganese, Sulfur and Zinc. It is applied anywhere from 10 to 20 pounds per acre. Using MicroSync Pro is a good way to get ahead of some problems that may come up in your corn crop. It is also a really good product to add to your hay fertilizer.
When making your dry fertilizer decisions this winter make sure that you discuss sulfur and micronutrients with your agronomist!
