Spring is On The Way

Feb 05, 2024

The above average temperatures have melted most of the snow in this area. Now we must deal with the muddy conditions. It doesn’t look like we will be in the field anytime soon as we wait for warm weather and sunshine. Even though it seems like there isn’t much to do right now, it is a good time to make sure everything is in order for this spring.

Take some time to go over maps with your agronomist. Even if nothing has changed from last year it is always a good idea to make sure everyone is on the same page. It is especially a good idea if you have or are planning on making changes to some fields. It will be very busy once the time comes to get back into the field, so planning ahead can help things go smoother.

Also, take time to go over chemical programs with your agronomist. No chemical program is set in stone. Make sure you have your chemical recipes in order with the right rates. If you’re having your chemicals custom applied, make sure all gates and crossing are marked on the map so the applicators can efficiently spray your fields.

It may seem like there is nothing to do right now with all this mud but there is plenty of planning that can take place to make the 2024 season go smoothly.
