Prepare for 2025
Jan 13, 2025

Are You prepared for the 2025 growing season? It may seem like an eternity until spring arrives, but if the weather cooperates, we could be dropping seed in the ground in three months. Now is the time to be finalizing your agronomy plans for 2025 inputs so you can optimize yields by placing the right products on the right acre.
It is good to start with seed. Many corn hybrids and soybean varieties have the greatest yield potentials by placing on the correct soils. Once we have seed placement complete in your agronomy plan, we can move on to fertilizer. Work with your local SFG agronomist to be certain that you are fertilizing your fields to optimize your return on investment? We offer VRT applications by soil sample results, yield, CSRs, or about any other way that makes sense on your farm.
We also need to protect your crops from yield-robbing weeds by planning a good two-pass chemical program. Use a pre-emerge applied early and a post-emerge with residual activity to start clean and keep the field clean throughout the growing season.
Plant health is the next area that we need to look at, preparing for fungicide, foliar fertilizer, and/or insecticide. Fungicide and insecticide on soybeans always give a return on your investment. With the movement of Tar Spot into our territory, fungicide could give huge returns on corn if the disease presents itself early in the season.
Now is the time to sit down with your local SFG CCA agronomist to complete your agronomy plan. Granted, weather or other unavoidable situations may alter our plan, but we will save a lot of time at planting by being prepared to place the right seed on the right acre on your farm.
