Planning your 2026 Chemical

Jan 05, 2026

2025 has come and gone, and many growers are already starting to place their chemical orders for the 2026 crop. Even with higher rainfall last season, 2025 chemical programs performed very well. As always, it is much easier to keep a soybean field clean when you start clean.

Overlapping residuals remain a must for effective weed control. Applying a full rate up front, followed by a second residual application 25 to 30 days later, continues to be one of the most reliable strategies. It’s far easier to maintain a clean field than it is to clean one up after weeds get established.

The same principle applies to corn. Many growers have moved away from one-pass programs as waterhemp and marestail become increasingly difficult to control. Timing is critical—getting the second pass applied before the corn gets too tall helps ensure proper coverage and allows the chemical to reach its intended target.

SFG offers a variety of proven chemical programs to fit your operation’s needs. Select products also come with attractive financing options, often at lower interest rates than traditional bank financing. In addition, we provide scouting services and full-service application. With how busy spring can be, having an extra set of eyes in the field can make a real difference.

Now is the best time to get your chemicals booked for the 2026 crop. Contact your local SFG agronomist today—we’d be happy to walk through program options and help you build a plan that works for your acres.
