Start Planning Spring Burndown Applications
Mar 29, 2021
After a week of wet weather, it looks like the next 10 days might open a window to get in the fields. I wanted to take a little time today to discuss burndown applications and making plans to get fields on a list for this. We now have plenty of moisture for the short term and sunny warm days will really get the winter annuals and other problem weeds started. Before we know it fields will be greening up and it will be time to get herbicide plans out there to keep them from getting out of control. Resistant marestail is still a problem and every year we run into that in the spring. We have a lot more tools to use now than we did 5 years ago but one thing stays the same, spraying it early to keep it from getting out of control. Multiple modes of action and an effective pre-emergence residual herbicide can set your fields up for success this season. Here at SFG we have many flexible options for these applications and we can tailor a chemical program to best fit your fields and needs. If you have questions or would like to look at a field for burndown application give your local SFG agronomist a call.
