Get Ready for 2022
Jan 10, 2022
It may not feel like it, but spring is right around the corner. Before we know it, the snow will be melted, and field work will begin. But before that time comes around it is important to make sure that we have everything ready for the upcoming 2022 growing season.
With higher input costs this year it is important to get your chemicals, seed and fertilizer booked beforehand. Also, availability could become an issue with some inputs so getting your order in early is a good way to ensure that you will get the product that you need.
With higher prices of inputs, it may be tempting to try and cut corners to save on cost, this is not a wise decision. It will be more important now than ever to grow a large crop to get as many bushels as possible possible. Make sure that you are using full rate of chemicals and adding the right amount of fertilizer to gain as many bushels as possible at possible. We also need to protect our invests with nitrogen stabilizers so the product will be there when it is needed.
Seed will not be getting any cheaper between now and planting time so take the time to talk to your agronomist about getting your seed booked. Your agronomist can also help you with what hybrid to plant and where. Picking the right seed for the field is one of the most important steps to take for this season.
So before the wheels start turning take the time to meet with your SFG agronomist to make sure you are setting yourself up for success in the 2022 season.
