Cold Weather and Cattle

Feb 08, 2021

The cold weather we have all been dreading has arrived. The livestock need extra energy and a good wind break to survive this challenging time. If the pasture or equipment allows the opportunity to feed out of the wind, either in a bottom or along a dense stand of trees, you should consider feeding there. It won’t keep them out of the bitter cold temperatures, but it would allow the livestock an opportunity to escape that cold wind.

Molasses lick tubs are still an excellent option for providing the extra energy needed to survive the bitter cold. SFG offers Crystalyx and EnergiLass molasses tubs in a variety of sizes to fit each producer’s needs. Contact your local SFG representatives for assistance at your preferred location.
